08/07/2025, Update on Sprowston Recreation Ground:

An eviction notice was served last night on the travellers camped on the Recreation Ground. They have until 6.00pm today (Tuesday 8th July) to leave, otherwise the Police will be able to seize their vehicles. Whilst the travellers are on site, the gates to the Rec cannot be locked. Therefore we ask residents to please heed the ‘closed’ notices posted on the gates and avoid entering the Rec – even if the gates are open. Vehicles are being driven across the grass and we cannot guarantee public safety. As and when the travellers leave, the Rec will remained closed for a short period whilst we inspect the area to ensure it is safe for public use. It will reopen as soon as possible.
